Challenge

To set the New York Philharmonic apart from other orchestras by underscoring its pre-eminence as a cultural resource with global reach.

Solution

As director of publications I implemented a new strategy for annual reports that replaced a chronicle format with a themed format. This report, inspired by the institution’s new relationship with a global-funding partner, underscored the orchestra’s international reach. For the casual reader, themed content was organized into digestible segments, called out in eye-catching headlines. Essential data were presented as attractive graphics.

This was the first Philharmonic annual report to be made available in both print and electronic versions.
