CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION, RESEARCH, WRITING

This system of 21 street signs interpreting the history of the 34th Street district evolved over a period of years. My role included developing an interpretive framework that met the rigorous guidelines of New York City’s Public Design Commission (PDC); preparing documentation for presentation to the PDC; recommending locations for each sign based on historical significance; doing historical and image research; branding the system (“Know NYC”); writing and editing copy to fit the approved format; and defending the project before the Public Design Commission.
