During my ten years as the editor-in-chief of Seaport, the history magazine of the South Street Seaport Museum, I significantly broadened its editorial scope to include articles by leading scholars and authors, not just on maritime history, but on aspects of New York City pertinent to its standing as a world port. I greatly expanded the use of contemporary photography on covers and inside pages, and I oversaw the transition from hot metal and paste-up to computerized typesetting.
