Working under tight deadline pressure, I served as the top editor for Leonard Bernstein: American Original (Harper Collins, 2008), published in conjunction with a citywide celebration of the conductor-composer’s life and work. I worked directly with the main authors, Burton Bernstein and Barbara Haws, as well as with all ten essayists — a mix of prominent scholars and journalists — developing and coordinating content and melding writing styles and content into a coherent whole. I also did intensive primary- and secondary-source image research for photos not available in the New York Philharmonic archives.
